Flow Control Magazine Wins 2006 Tabbie Award

July 6, 2006 — Flow Control magazine (www.flowcontrolnetwork.com), an industry trade journal covering fluid handling technology and systems design, earned the first Honorable Mention in the Front Cover, Illustration category of the 2006 Tabbie Awards contest. The Tabbie Awards program is an annual competition recognizing outstanding achievement in editorial and design among business publications worldwide.

All told, the Tabbie Awards received almost 800 nominations from around the world for this year’s competition. Gold, Silver, Bronze, and several Honorable Mentions were presented in each category. Flow Control was honored for its July 2005 cover, “Bugging Out,” which featured the Marvel Comics character Ant-Man. Ant-Man, who rose to modest popularity in early 1960s-era Marvel Comics, was used to illustrate a cover story about a bacteria outbreak in a storage disc slurry filtration process.

“With almost 800 editorial and design entries from across the globe, your winning is certainly an impressive achievement, one that your whole publication should take pride in,” noted Paul J. Heney, president of TABPI (Trade Association Business Publications International, www.tabpi.org), organizer of the Tabbie Awards, in his official letter to Flow Control notifying the publication of its Honorable Mention in the Front Cover, Illustration category.

“Since we are a small publication and submitted only one nomination for the 2006 Tabbie Awards competition, we were particularly pleased to hear we received the first Honorable Mention in the Front Cover, Illustration category,” said Matt Migliore, editor of Flow Control magazine. “The entire Flow Control team works very hard to come up with interesting cover concepts for each issue of the magazine, so being recognized by TABPI for our ‘Bugging Out’ cover design gives us a tremendous sense of validation.”

Other Tabbie Award winners include such notable business publications as: CIO, Computerworld, Financial Executive, Forbes Global, InfoWorld, Legal Business, Network World, and PC World. Judges for the Tabbie Awards include editorial and design professional from business publications around the world, as well as representatives from global business publishing associations.
