Archery Business, Black’s Directories Honored

When you’re Archery Business, the oldest and most-respected archery trade publication in the industry, striving for editorial and design excellence becomes a part of building each and every issue—but it’s always nice when others take notice of a job well done. We’re proud to report Archery Business was one of three publications from the Grand View Media Sportsman’s Group, which were honored recently as part of the Ninth Annual Minnesota Magazine & Publications Association (MMPA) Excellence Awards.

The 2005 Awards banquet held Nov. 3 saw Archery Business take home the Silver Excellence Award for the Archery University 2005 issue that was published last May. The award came in the category of “Best Single Topic, Special Section or Special Supplement” for Business/Trade publications.

In addition, Black’s Wing & Clay, Waterfowl took home the Gold Excellence Award in the category of “Best Directory, Special Interest,” and Black’s Flyfishing took home the Gold Excellence Award in the category of “Best Directory, Business/Trade.”

“The past year has been very exciting for the Sportsman’s Group,” said Lee Hetherington, group publisher. “We’re producing the strongest products in the history of these titles and to receive recognition from our publishing peers outside of our core industry brings great satisfaction. Over three hundred leading Minnesota titles competed in 16 categories in this competition. For our little group to be awarded two golds and a silver is humbling, yet puts an exclamation point on the end of a very successful year.”

We’d like to thank all of the pro shops and manufacturers that help make these Grand View Sportsman’s Group publications “award winners” the whole year long!
